CVSS v3.1 |
| NLnet Labs Unbound up to and including version 1.25.0 has a denial of service vulnerability in the DNSSEC validator that can lead to a crash given malicious upstream replies. When Unbound constructs chase-reply messages for validation, the code uses the wrong counter to calculate write offsets for ADDITIONAL section rrsets. DNAME duplication could increase the ANSWER section count and authority filtering could decrease the AUTHORITY section count and create an uninitialized array slot. Combining these two, the validator later dereferences this uninitialized pointer, causing an immediate process crash. An adversary controlling a DNSSEC-signed domain can trigger this bug with a single query by configuring a DNAME chain with unsigned CNAMEs and a response containing unsigned AUTHORITY records alongside signed ADDITIONAL glue records. Unbound 1.25.1 contains a patch with a fix to use the proper counters to calculate the write offsets. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
xfrm: Fix work re-schedule after cancel in xfrm_nat_keepalive_net_fini()
After cancel_delayed_work_sync() is called from
xfrm_nat_keepalive_net_fini(), xfrm_state_fini() flushes remaining
states via __xfrm_state_delete(), which calls
xfrm_nat_keepalive_state_updated() to re-schedule nat_keepalive_work.
The following is a simple race scenario:
cpu0 cpu1
cleanup_net() [Round 1]
ops_undo_list()
xfrm_net_exit()
xfrm_nat_keepalive_net_fini()
cancel_delayed_work_sync(nat_keepalive_work);
xfrm_state_fini()
xfrm_state_flush()
xfrm_state_delete(x)
__xfrm_state_delete(x)
xfrm_nat_keepalive_state_updated(x)
schedule_delayed_work(nat_keepalive_work);
rcu_barrier();
net_complete_free();
net_passive_dec(net);
llist_add(&net->defer_free_list, &defer_free_list);
cleanup_net() [Round 2]
rcu_barrier();
net_complete_free()
kmem_cache_free(net_cachep, net);
nat_keepalive_work()
// on freed net
To prevent this, cancel_delayed_work_sync() is replaced with
disable_delayed_work_sync(). |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
smb: server: fix use-after-free in smb2_open()
The opinfo pointer obtained via rcu_dereference(fp->f_opinfo) is
dereferenced after rcu_read_unlock(), creating a use-after-free
window. |
| Rapid7 Metasploit Pro is vulnerable to a local privilege escalation attack that allows a user to gain SYSTEM level control of a Windows host. When started the metasploitPostgreSQL service would start the postgres.exe child process which would in turn load an OpenSSL configuration file from a static location. This static location would be writable by a pre-existing "vagrant" user, if they already existed on the system. Metasploit does not create local accounts, an Administrator would need to create it. By planting a crafted openssl.cnf file an attacker can trick the high-privilege service into executing arbitrary commands. This effectively permits the unprivileged vagrant user to bypass security controls and achieve a full host compromise under the agent's SYSTEM level access. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ksmbd: fix use-after-free in smb_lazy_parent_lease_break_close()
opinfo pointer obtained via rcu_dereference(fp->f_opinfo) is being
accessed after rcu_read_unlock() has been called. This creates a
race condition where the memory could be freed by a concurrent
writer between the unlock and the subsequent pointer dereferences
(opinfo->is_lease, etc.), leading to a use-after-free. |
| Use-after-free in the DOM: Bindings (WebIDL) component. This vulnerability was fixed in Firefox 151, Firefox ESR 115.36, Firefox ESR 140.11, Thunderbird 151, and Thunderbird 140.11. |
| Use after free in Core in Google Chrome on Windows prior to 148.0.7778.168 allowed a remote attacker who had compromised the renderer process to potentially perform a sandbox escape via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: Medium) |
| Sandbox escape due to use-after-free in the Disability Access APIs component. This vulnerability was fixed in Firefox 151, Firefox ESR 115.36, Firefox ESR 140.11, Thunderbird 151, and Thunderbird 140.11. |
