CVE-2026-115396 2 Nationalsecurityagency, Nsa 2 Ghidra, Ghidra 2026-10-29 5.5 Medium
Ghidra 10.3 before 12.2 contains an improper handling of highly compressed data vulnerability in ThemeReader.processIconFile() that fails to limit decompressed size or compression ratio. Attackers can persuade a user to import a crafted theme ZIP whose icon entries expand to fill the host filesystem, causing later writes to fail.
CVE-2026-111073 1 Apache 1 Kafka 2026-10-28 N/A
The broker-side PushTelemetry API (KIP-714) validates only the compressed size of a client's metrics payload against telemetry.max.bytes (default 1 MB) before decompressing it. ClientTelemetryUtils.decompress() then decompresses the payload with no limit on the decompressed output size, growing a heap buffer until the compressed input is exhausted. A small, highly compressible payload (for example gzip-compressed zeros) can therefore expand to hundreds of megabytes of broker heap. Impact: An authenticated client can send a PushTelemetry request with a small compressed payload that decompresses to a very large size, consuming broker heap out of proportion to the request size. Repeated or concurrent requests can exhaust the broker heap and cause an OutOfMemoryError, degrading or crashing the broker; a client that targets multiple brokers can affect cluster availability. PushTelemetry is available to any authenticated client and is not gated by an ACL. Mitigation: Upgrade to Apache Kafka 4.2.2, 4.3.1, or 4.4.0. On affected versions there is no configuration that fully prevents the amplification, because telemetry.max.bytes bounds only the compressed size; lowering telemetry.max.bytes reduces the worst-case decompressed size proportionally and is a partial mitigation. Resolution: - From Apache Kafka 4.2.2, 4.3.1, and 4.4.0: ClientTelemetryUtils.decompress() enforces a maximum decompressed size equal to telemetry.max.bytes (default 1 MB). Decompression reads in bounded chunks and aborts with a TelemetryTooLargeException once the decompressed total exceeds the limit, so an over-large or highly compressible payload is rejected instead of being fully expanded in heap. The decompressed size is therefore bounded by default.
CVE-2026-118261 1 Labstack 1 Echo 2026-10-28 N/A
Echo is a Go web framework. From 4.0.0 until 4.16.1, Echo v4's opt-in Decompress middleware exposes a gzip-decoded request stream without limiting its expanded size. A small compressed request can expand into a very large body when a handler reads or binds it, consuming excessive memory or CPU and allowing repeated or concurrent requests to cause denial of service. The middleware is not enabled by default, and limiting only the compressed request size does not bound the decoded size. This issue is fixed in 4.16.1.
CVE-2026-96638 2 Python, Python-pillow 2 Pillow, Pillow 2026-10-28 6.5 Medium
Pillow is a Python imaging library. From 9.1.0 until 13.0.0, BmpRleDecoder.decode() in src/PIL/BmpImagePlugin.py permits crafted RLE BMP delta escapes and absolute-mode runs to append beyond the remaining dest_length without a per-branch cap. A delta can add roughly 255 image rows in one iteration, so a kilobyte-sized file with a large but permitted width can expand the data bytearray to hundreds of megabytes or more, causing memory-exhaustion denial of service. This issue is fixed in version 13.0.0.
CVE-2026-117618 2 Jenkins, Jenkins Project 2 Jenkins, Jenkins 2026-10-28 N/A
In Jenkins 2.587 and earlier, LTS 2.580.1 and earlier, the HTTP endpoint for creating the first user account does not check whether the setup wizard has been completed, resulting in a race condition that allows unauthenticated attackers to create an administrator account while the initial user account is being replaced.
CVE-2026-114103 2 Adm-zip Project, Cthackers 2 Adm-zip, Adm-zip 2026-10-27 5.3 Medium
adm-zip 0.6.0 contains a decompression bomb protection bypass that allows attackers to evade the maxOutputLength guard by targeting the asynchronous getDataAsync() path in methods/inflater.js. Attackers can craft ZIP entries with falsified small declared sizes and high-ratio DEFLATE payloads to exhaust memory in applications reading entries asynchronously.
CVE-2026-116662 1 Tanium 1 Enforce 2026-10-27 7.5 High
Tanium addressed a compression bomb vulnerability in Enforce.
CVE-2026-116579 1 Crossbario 1 Autobahn-python 2026-10-27 5.9 Medium
Autobahn Python is a WebSocket and WAMP implementation for Python that supports Twisted and asyncio. From 26.7.1 until 26.10.1, PerMessageBrotli.decompress_message_data in compress_brotli.py calls the Brotli decompressor without an output limit and checks maxMessagePayloadSize only after a complete frame has been inflated. An unauthenticated WebSocket client can send a small, highly compressed frame that allocates hundreds of MiB before rejection, causing memory-exhaustion denial of service on servers that enable the opt-in permessage-brotli feature through the compress extra. Deflate and bzip2 already enforce the remaining output budget and are outside this residual vulnerability. This issue is fixed in version 26.10.1.
CVE-2026-65627 1 Potatosalad 1 Jose 2026-10-27 7.5 High
Improper Handling of Highly Compressed Data (Data Amplification) vulnerability in potatosalad jose (erlang-jose) allows a remote attacker to exhaust a node's memory with a small crafted JWE token. The jose_jwe_zip:uncompress/2 function in src/jwe/jose_jwe_zip.erl decompresses the DEFLATE-compressed plaintext of a JWE that carries the optional zip: DEF header by calling zlib:inflate/2 on the entire attacker-controlled stream, with no bound on the output size or the inflation ratio. Raw DEFLATE reaches ratios around 1000:1 on highly repetitive input, so a few-kilobyte token inflates to hundreds of megabytes or gigabytes in a single call. Decompression runs automatically during decryption through jose_jwe:block_decrypt/2 (JOSE.JWE.block_decrypt/2 in Elixir), before the recipient can inspect or reject the payload. With the common asymmetric key-management algorithms (RSA-OAEP, ECDH-ES) an attacker needs only the recipient's public key to craft such a token, so no authentication or secret material is required. A single small token can exhaust the node's memory and crash the BEAM, denying service to all users. This issue affects jose: from 1.0.0 before 1.11.13.
CVE-2026-112892 2 Python, Python-pillow 2 Pillow, Pillow 2026-10-27 7.5 High
Pillow is a Python imaging library. From 4.1.0 until 13.0.0, Pillow's MSP RLE decoder can expand a small file into an unbounded in-memory buffer. The decoder writes run-length output to BytesIO without limiting expansion to the declared image size. An attacker can supply a crafted MSP image to an application that loads its pixels. This can exhaust memory and deny service even when the declared pixel count passes the decompression-bomb check. This issue is fixed in version 13.0.0.
CVE-2026-96637 2 Python, Python-pillow 2 Pillow, Pillow 2026-10-27 6.5 Medium
Pillow is a Python imaging library. Prior to 13.0.0, SpiderImageFile.seek() in src/PIL/SpiderImagePlugin.py reparses a later SPIDER stack frame and replaces self._size without rerunning Image._decompression_bomb_check(). A tiny file can use a safe first frame to pass Image.open() and then declare very large dimensions in a later mode F frame. Loading that frame allocates approximately four bytes per attacker-declared pixel and can consume multiple gigabytes of memory. This issue is fixed in version 13.0.0.
CVE-2026-96636 2 Python, Python-pillow 2 Pillow, Pillow 2026-10-27 6.5 Medium
Pillow is a Python imaging library. Prior to 13.0.0, MpoImageFile.seek() and DcxImageFile.seek() reparse later MPO or DCX frames and replace self._size without rerunning Image._decompression_bomb_check(). A crafted multi-frame image can use a tiny first frame to pass Image.open() and then declare an over-limit later frame. Normal frame iteration through seek(), load(), or ImageSequence.Iterator can decode that frame and commit hundreds of megabytes or more, causing memory-exhaustion denial of service. This issue is fixed in version 13.0.0.
CVE-2026-115638 1 Openstack 1 Ironic 2026-10-26 4.3 Medium
OpenStack Ironic through 39.0.1 allows a denial of service via a configdrive that results in a very large amount of uncompressed data, aka a gzip bomb.
CVE-2026-93850 1 Mattermost 1 Mattermost 2026-10-26 6.5 Medium
Mattermost versions 11.9.x <= 11.9.1, 11.8.x <= 11.8.5, 11.7.x <= 11.7.10, 11.10.x <= 11.10.1 fail to bind the volume of text extracted from an uploaded PDF which allows an authenticated user to exhaust server memory and cause a denial of service via a crafted PDF whose compressed content stream expands into a very large amount of text.. Mattermost Advisory ID: MMSA-2026-00769
CVE-2026-116175 2 Vllm, Vllm-project 2 Vllm, Vllm 2026-10-26 6.5 Medium
vLLM from 0.19.0 before 0.24.0 contains a decompression bomb vulnerability because the AudioMediaIO multimodal path calls load_audio without the max_duration_s decoded-duration limit. Authenticated attackers can send small compressed audio via input_audio or audio_url in /v1/chat/completions requests that expands to huge decoded PCM, exhausting server memory.
CVE-2026-97200 1 Benoitc 1 Hackney 2026-10-26 N/A
Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling vulnerability in hackney_conn in benoitc hackney allows a malicious HTTP server to exhaust client memory via an oversized or highly compressed response body. hackney:request/5 and hackney:body/1 return the whole response body, and nothing bounds how much the connection process buffers. Any server the client requests can trigger it. hackney_conn:read_full_body/2 and the HTTP/2 and HTTP/3 accumulators append every chunk until the body ends. With {auto_decompress, true} the buffered body is then inflated in one step with zlib:gunzip/1 or zlib:inflate/2, which return the whole output at once. This issue affects hackney: from 2.0.0-beta.1 before 4.9.0.
CVE-2026-109584 1 Mtrudel 1 Bandit 2026-10-26 N/A
Improper Handling of Highly Compressed Data (Data Amplification) vulnerability in the HTTP/2 implementation of mtrudel bandit allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to exhaust server memory via a small HPACK-compressed HEADERS block. The block stores one large cookie value in the HPACK dynamic table and then references it tens of thousands of times with 1-byte indexed fields. In the reporter's run, a 49 KB block made a server with default settings allocate a 183 MB cookie binary before any application code ran, and every concurrent stream can repeat the cost. Bandit.HTTP2.Connection caps only the compressed block (max_header_block_size), and its check of the decoded list against max_header_list_size never fires because that setting defaults to :infinity. combine_cookie_crumbs/1 in lib/bandit/http2/stream.ex then joins every crumb into one binary. This issue affects bandit: from 0.3.3 before 1.14.0.
CVE-2026-116177 2 Vllm, Vllm-project 2 Vllm, Vllm 2026-10-25 7.5 High
vLLM from 0.10.2 before 0.25.0 contains an uncontrolled resource consumption vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to exhaust memory because the Nemotron-VL processors globally set Image.MAX_IMAGE_PIXELS to None. Attackers can submit a pathological decompression-bomb image to /v1/chat/completions to OOM-kill the worker and deny service to co-tenants.
CVE-2026-109294 1 Openwebui 1 Open Webui 2026-10-23 6.5 Medium
Open WebUI from 0.6.42 before 0.11.4 contains an uncontrolled resource consumption vulnerability that allows authenticated users to exhaust server memory by supplying compressed remote image URLs in chat messages. Attackers can point the image field at a host returning gzip-encoded responses, which get_image_base64_from_url decompresses unbounded, causing denial of service for all users.
CVE-2026-113873 1 Smilecdr 1 Hapi Fhir 2026-10-23 7.5 High
SmileCDR HAPI FHIR does not properly handle highly compressed data, allowing an unauthenticated attacker to send compressed payloads that exhaust server heap or crash certain services when decompressed.
